Palatability trials are carried out by a combination of home panels of known dog and cat owners and an independant kennel and cattery. The primary aim is to assess the palatability of the product in relation to a specific benchmark or simply monadically.
Palatabiliy is essentially a measurement of how readily an animal will eat and enjoy a food and how much they will consume. Taste, aroma and physical characteristics of the product are the key measurements.
These trials are carried out as part of the product development process and on-going as part of a quality assurance scheme. |
